Cleared: Mistborn

Mistborn is a wonderful fantasy novel by Brandon Sanderson. Nothing except the magic system is terribly new, but it's very well-written with some very likable characters. If you enjoy or even can tolerate fantasy, you'll almost certainly enjoy it. Anything else I could say is a potential spoiler.
