So I snagged The Mechanic from Redbox and watched it tonight. Not the best or smartest action flick I've ever seen, but far from the worst or dumbest. As (somewhat formulaic) action thrillers go, it was pretty good. Good, solid action/assassination sequences, two very formidable on-screen presences in Ben Foster (playing his usual crazy, dangerous character) and Jason Statham (playing his usual chillingly stable dangerous character) and a serviceable story including a couple of plot twists towards the end. Nothing to write home about (It's not Taken, for example), but nothing to complain about, either. If you're in the mood for an action flick and haven't seen this one, go for it. You'll probably enjoy it.
